Company Milestones
Stavros Demosthenous Contractors is proud to look back on the growth, development, highlights and turning points that have defined its history over the past five decades.
1970 // THE BEGINNING
Stavros Demosthenous, founder and chairman of the company, establishes a small-sized construction business under the name of Stavros Demosthenous Contractors.
1981 // SELF – OWNED PREMISES
The company expands its activities into the property developing sector and completes Zoanna court, which currently houses the company’s head quarters.
1982 // LEADING THE WAY
Sandiz Complex, one of the largest tourist project in Cyprus at the time, contributes to the excellent reputation and standing of the Group.
1986 -1988 // FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH
A period of dynamic growth, with the completion of Sandy Beach Apartments, a luxurious beachfront development, adding a new dimension to the company’s portfolio. The complex comprises three apartment buildings, some featuring a roof garden, as well as a private pool, gym and tennis courts.
1989-1995 // PIONEERING PROJECTS
Construction of major projects in Limassol: among them being the Mediterranean Beach Hotel and the Orphanides Hypermarket, with a total area of 40.000m2.
1998-2002 // CONCEPTUAL CONSTRUCTION
Construction activity reaches new heights with the completion of the award-winning Elysium in Paphos, a five-star deluxe hotel (awarded the MIPIM Best Hotel Award in 2003 and the Leisure Property Forum Award in 2002).
2002-2004
In a joint venture the company constructs the largest Holiday Resort on the island, the Aldiana Zypern.
The development and construction of Alkion, an ultra lux beach front project including a Hotel in combination with a complex of prestigious villas.
2008 – 2011
Halcyon Villas: This seafront oasis offers a style of living unparalleled on the island… close to the city but seeming a million miles away.
2015 – 2018
Amara Hotel: A Limassol luxurious hotel currently under development.

The construction of both hotels was undertaken by Stavros Demosthenous Contractors and is also the owning company of the AMARA a 5 star deluxe hotel.
